Alex Lawrence (00:00) hey James, how are you doing?

JAHI006 (00:02) Well, as my grandfather used to say, you know, I’m ambulatory, I’m taking in sustenance. So, you know, at least I’ve got that baseline covered. I love that. But, you know, yeah, I mean, I don’t know where you’re at, but I mean we had the still kind of dealing with the fallout of a fairly large blizzard this last weekend. And now today, it’s supposed to get up to like near 50 degrees so late winter in Minnesota.

Alex Lawrence (00:32) I am facing a little bit of the opposite. I’m down in San Diego. So we’re on a heat wave right now where every day has basically been 90… different elements we are facing. But super happy. Oh, I saw internet’s coming in right now. Let’s see here.

JAHI006 (00:55) Yeah. So we definitely want Antoinette in this because she is effectively our credentialing staff.

JAHI006 (01:03) So really like, I know enough about credentialing, like what I know about credentialing is really from like the payr provider contracting side, like, I know that it has to be done because it’s a prerequisite to being able to be paid for professional services. But as far as like the mechanics specifically, like I lost on me, so.

Alex Lawrence (01:29) Absolutely. Well, super happy to connect with both of you. Full transparency. These calls are usually, we might not even need the full 15 minutes. It’s more to establish kind of what you guys are looking to solve, tell you a little bit about medallion, if it makes sense. I’ll get you set up with a specialist who can do that deeper dive of discovery into like how medallion would operate within the org and things like that, if that works for you. Yeah.

JAHI006 (01:57) Hi, Alex. Hey James.

Alex Lawrence (01:59) Hey, Antoinette. Pleasure pleasure to meet you. But yeah, I guess if you want to kick it off, just walk me through a little bit about like what brought you to medallion or just kind of how that’s all starting.

JAHI006 (02:13) Yeah. Well, I, maybe I’ll start well and I Antoinette, you certainly feel free, to fill in but I, we’re having this meeting largely because I submitted like an online form to say, hey, this is at least, I feel like I’ve submitted a few.

JAHI006 (02:28) So like I said, Antoinette, is really represents the bulk of our credentialing staff and I think kind of given the nature, of our, of who we are as an entity like our past and kind of where we see that we’re going. I think that we have historically leaned heavily on sort of a collection of like spreadsheets and just human knowledge, to kind of manage our credentialing process. And I don’t know how super cool that was back when we just had a few 12 providers, but now we’re we’ve got right around 100 practitioners and are kind of, I think we’re looking at a situation where we may soon see that number increase rather significantly. So, I think that, you know, Antoinette and our CFO, I think had a meeting of the minds and really were like, I think we need like a better tool, to be able to manage that work. So, our CFO basically said, hey James, other duties assigned man. Can you start doing some digging into, you know, like credentialing management platform, slash software? And, I love the other, you know, the other duties as assigned part of my job. So yeah, that’s why you guys got the message you got from me so well, I.

Alex Lawrence (03:55) Love that. And I appreciate you sharing all of that. A little, all of those things are realistically why people reach out to medallion. So, medallion is a software and a service that is scalable with your org. Most people come to us when they are looking to grow without adding more headcount, or potentially if they have like a very bulky team, there’s potential with the automations to kind of get rid of headcount. We rapidly accelerate the time to revenue for new providers, realistically submitting a packet within on an average of a day right now. Within that we, as I said, we are a software and a service. So we’re not just a strictly self serve we would work in implement with your team. Is that something that you feel you’re kind of looking for to get away from the spreadsheets or how does that sound?

Antoinette Flores (04:48) Well, just hearing and thank you James for sharing all of that and set kind of just setting the tone for what we’re wanting to accomplish here. So I’m just to be fully transparent. So I just stepped into this role. It’s been about three months now and so since I’ve been getting acquainted with the work, we have been very spreadsheet.

Alex Lawrence (05:09) You.

Antoinette Flores (05:10) know, data driven and it’s really not as functional as it needs to be in order for us to be able to do the work that we need to do. So, my thought is finding a software that could help, of course, automate, because right now we’re doing a lot of different things. So like when providers credentialing is expiring, we’re having to manually manage that, a lot of the parent enrollment although we have, you know, like the MCC that we’re using my goal ultimately is to find a service that we can use that can help us kind of streamline all of those pieces, payor, enrollment, provider credentialing. So helping us manage when their credentials are expiring. So we can pull reports and, you know, work off of that and then help with the medicare medicaid part of enrollment. And then of course, we have streamline verify where, you know, our providers have to go through to make sure that we’re getting reports for, you know, things that we need to be aware of in terms of their credentialing and things like that. So, you know, I think it might be a mix of, you know, some external support. I think at least as far as my thoughts are concerned, I’m thinking that we want to be as, I guess self sufficient and dependent as we possibly can. And then maybe, you know, of course, having support if we needed to work through, you know, different types of workflows and things like that. So.

Alex Lawrence (06:35) Awesome. Yeah. I appreciate you sharing all of that. All of those things are things that medallion helps solve for our clients. The ongoing monitoring, giving a single source of truth instead of having these disjointed kind of spreadsheets all aboard where timelines can get missed. And you’re having to do all these checks. Medallion simplifies that. For your team, we have a direct integration with caqh. So there’s a push pull which allows us to get the bulk of that data. Ultimately, there’s still a lot of stuff that not, I wouldn’t say a lot but there are things that like your team would still, we would never be able to do like we can’t you would have to tell medallion. All right, let’s start the process of this provider is coming on board or we need to track these. So like your team would still be responsible for those things. But a lot of those automations can pull through the data and then give your team kind of that time back in the day to focus on higher level opportunities, and simplify for the whole scale from CFO all the way down. So, with those things in mind, I guess like my only other question like realistically, are you kind of looking? I know it’s just in the beginning phase of looking. Is this something that you think you’re trying to move within the next year or just stealing things out? Like what does that look like for you? Yeah.

Antoinette Flores (07:54) I think that’s a good question. And then there’s still conversations to be. Had we’re in the preliminary stages of trying to find some other solutions right now, we’re working in a software that’s being used by the county to help us kind of, you know, migrate data from the spreadsheets and provider files into this temporary solution. And so, but that’s been a very labor intensive work so which?

Alex Lawrence (08:21) Is that just like a proprietary or what software?

Antoinette Flores (08:23) Is it’s file net? So I’m not sure. I mean quite honestly in the conversations that I’ve had with the file net team, it’s a database software so to speak that the county uses. But in conversations, it’s one that’s pretty dated. And as we’ve been going through trying to develop this file net solution for us, there’s features there that they’re just not available to help us, you know, streamline again the processes. So it’s a temporary solution. But I’m… hoping that we can get something done, you know, sooner than later. Yeah.

JAHI006 (09:02) Well, and I would just add to that, you know, one of the things, that we kind of find ourselves running into a lot is that, we are an fqhc. Yes. But we’re one of the things that’s really interesting about us is that we are also a department of hennepin county. So, you know, like essentially a local government entity. So… and let’s face it, the county, I don’t think that we would consider the provision of health care services to be like a core competency or like a core feature of an entity like hennepin county. So getting resourced appropriately can be a bit more of a battle it seems. And I mean, I say that like I haven’t spent years and years here at north point, but that’s kind of what I’ve picked up in, the roughly what 20 or so months that I have been here. So it’s and,

Alex Lawrence (10:03) with you guys as a whole. So it is 100 providers roughly like strictly your division or is that all of hennepin county would potentially be involved in that too?

JAHI006 (10:15) So that, that’s so, and one thing to keep in mind, like I don’t know like what you know about, the twin cities healthcare market. So, there, there’s an entity called hennepin healthcare system, which is the parent organization that operates hennepin county medical center, that is at least as of today that is a separate entity from hennepin county. Hennepin county has like north point health and wellness center, which is the fqhc that we work for. And then there are a few other healthcare assets within the county, but much smaller in scale than north point. So, north point proper has right now about 100 practitioners, okay?

Alex Lawrence (10:59) Perfect. But as you said, there’s they’re separate right now. So it wouldn’t be like the hennepin healthcare system wouldn’t be involved in this at all, correct?

JAHI006 (11:08) Correct.

Alex Lawrence (11:09) Yes. Okay. So let me do this. I would love to get you guys with a specialist I’m trying to look at a?

Alex Lawrence (11:26) Looking at. Is there anyone else that you would want involved on this next one for like discovery potentially looking at things like that or just the two of you to start?

JAHI006 (11:42) You know, I think through some of the things that I’ve been through, it seems like discovery involves like a lot of a lot of questions and certainly Antoinette is a fantastic resource for that. But I think, you know, again because my focus typically is very much on contracting contract management, that sort of thing. It can be really useful because we’re a pretty small organization and, you know, most of our leadership wears multiple hats… and I’m trying to kind of get everyone needed, into a room real or virtual can be difficult at times, you know, like if there’s information that you need from us, I think kind of getting us a list of those questions or data points that you’re looking for can be really like that is a really good way to kind of kick that process off.

Alex Lawrence (12:49) Yeah. The initial call will be just 30 minutes just to kind of walk through, give you a better overview of medallion as a whole examples. And like case situations from there, the data points would come for like a true demo that would be built around like those data points and things. So this first call wouldn’t necessarily need there, just would love to get the, what was that?

JAHI006 (13:16) No, I was just going to say in that case, I think that Antoinette and I are probably the best audience for.

Alex Lawrence (13:23) That perfect. As far as times like you think Tuesday the 20 fourth, it looks like I’m on PST but it looks like he’s got.

Alex Lawrence (13:43) Is Minnesota Central Time?

JAHI006 (13:45) We are, yes.

Alex Lawrence (13:46) Okay. Let’s see here. So he has something. What would that be, would like noon? Like 12 to 12 30 on Tuesday, the 20 fourth work at all or potentially, what is this? I would say something a little either?

JAHI006 (14:11) Earlier or one?

Alex Lawrence (14:14) Or after one. Let me.

Alex Lawrence (14:24) Stand by. Let me actually just shoot him a message… one o clock.

Alex Lawrence (15:15) Let me see if I can get him in real time?

Alex Lawrence (15:26) Otherwise, it looks like he could, he has some times in the afternoon on Monday too. Anything from like… what… that be? Three three 30 on… if there was a later in the afternoon that might work?

JAHI006 (15:48) That works for me, would for me as well?

Alex Lawrence (15:52) Or for you? Yeah, let’s do. All right. Let’s do, what? Did I just say? Three 30? Do you want to do three 30 or four?

JAHI006 (16:01) You call it James three 30?

Alex Lawrence (16:05) Three 30? Perfect. I will send this over there’s. A glitch happening. So ignore that. It says 60 minutes. I’ll edit it once it comes through, but we will see you there and you guys can meet with cliff and he’ll kind of run through all of those things as well. Sweet. Perfect. Awesome. Well, I appreciate your guys time. If anything changes. Obviously, feel free to shoot me a message, but cliff will see you guys on Monday.

JAHI006 (16:35) All right. Sounds good, Alex. Awesome.

Alex Lawrence (16:38) Have a great weekend take.

JAHI006 (16:39) Care. Take care bye.
