Stephanie Ryan (00:00) hey, you’re on mute?
Jack Koonce (00:07) So, we’re getting used to zoom, how you doing?
Stephanie Ryan (00:09) I’m good. How are you? Good. We’re getting like a rain ice storm right now. So that’s interesting.
Jack Koonce (00:17) Do you want another weather here?
Stephanie Ryan (00:19) Probably not. It’s like 80 and sunny.
Jack Koonce (00:22) 72.
Stephanie Ryan (00:23) Okay. Yeah, we’re going to San Diego in a few weeks with the kids and I’m like,
Jack Koonce (00:28) have you been before?
Stephanie Ryan (00:30) I’ve been, we have not taken the kids. Oh,
Jack Koonce (00:32) it’s awesome.
Stephanie Ryan (00:33) Yeah. We went for a wedding pre kids and had like the best time ever. It will be different this time, but I think the kids will have fun. So, I’m nervous for the flight. Everett is such a maniac and I just, he’s going to terrorize everybody on the plane, I think.
Jack Koonce (00:55) So, not that long of a flight. You going to the zoo?
Stephanie Ryan (00:58) We are going to do the zoo. Have you been before? Yeah, I haven’t been to the zoo. No. Is it awesome. Incredible?
Detra Moore (01:04) It’s incredible and.
Jack Koonce (01:05) you can pay like five bucks more and get the bus pass too.
Jack Koonce (01:09) So you guys walk until you’re tired, and then you hop on the bus and you get to see the backside of every exhibit and it’s like a super nice like double decker bus.
Stephanie Ryan (01:18) It’s awesome. My kids will just like the bus, so that’s… good to know. Okay, we will be doing that. And then there’s like this small little theme park that’s good for my kid’s age that we’re gonna go to. Okay. Wait, I’ve got Deitra, I’m gonna admit her, but yeah. So it should be fun.
Stephanie Ryan (01:43) Hi, Deitra. How’s it going?
Detra Moore (01:47) Hey, it’s good. How about you?
Stephanie Ryan (01:50) I’m good. We’ve got a new face on the call.
Stephanie Ryan (01:52) This is Jack. He is a newer account manager on my team. So he’s just sitting in to listen and learn and fun fact. Jack and I used to work together in a previous life, so, I brought him over to medallion and he’s based out of North Carolina. He said the weather’s beautiful there. Well, we’re getting an ice storm right now.
Detra Moore (02:14) Yes. So, very interesting. So, which part of North Carolina are you?
Jack Koonce (02:18) I’m in Raleigh? You’re.
Detra Moore (02:20) in Raleigh? Yeah. All right. You’re in NC state, wolfpack country over there, I,
Jack Koonce (02:24) am I went to NC state? So I am a very big wolfpack.
Stephanie Ryan (02:27) Fan. You’re a diehard fan? Yeah. Oh.
Detra Moore (02:29) That’s exciting. So, I’m in Charlotte right now, but I attended unc. So go heels, I.
Jack Koonce (02:37) won’t hold against you. My wife went to unc. So like, I have to play nice, you know, most of the time. So I get it. I appreciate the rivalry.
Detra Moore (02:48) Exactly. And we can all just continue to hate duke and laugh about their, you know, unfortunate collapse in the elite eight.
Jack Koonce (02:56) Yeah, it was pretty awesome. Yeah.
Detra Moore (02:59) Exactly. There’s the one. Oh.
Stephanie Ryan (03:02) My gosh, that’s amazing. Well, thanks for connecting today, Dietra. I don’t have a ton planned for today. I just thought that we could check in. I know I sent you that 12 month proposal which I think your team has had a chance to review.
Stephanie Ryan (03:18) It sounds like you might be leaning towards that way, but I have the proposals I can pull up and we can walk through them if you have questions or just wanted to kind of check in with you. I know from a timing perspective, it can take your org some time to get finalized from a signature perspective and everything like that. So just want to make sure we’re tracking towards that.
Detra Moore (03:40) Yeah, we’re good to go there. So Alex is planning to submit that through the, so this contract has to go through the, it renewal?
Stephanie Ryan (03:50) Okay. Yes. We talked about that last time, yeah. And.
Detra Moore (03:53) So he’s going to submit that and we’ll get that moving since it is a renewal. We don’t anticipate it’ll. Take as much time as some of our other contracts. But you also recall that it still took some time last year. I say that with a grain of salt, right? To say, you know, it’ll move faster than some of our other contracts in getting signatures, but it will still be.
Stephanie Ryan (04:16) Yes, it will take a little bit of time. Okay? So in terms of decision making, it sounds like you guys are green to move forward with the 12 month renewal and we will obviously keep all the instances. The same. Are there any additional departments that we’re thinking about bringing in or adding into the fold for this next contract year?
Detra Moore (04:45) I don’t think there will be any net new. There will likely be some expansion work. So, thinking about heart and vascular, they’re planning to stand up some new programs and services there, behavioral health, I think might have some additional volume, emergency care and then peds. But as you know, they’re pretty set. Those are some of the big areas. Yeah. And I appreciate you getting that approval for the 12 month. I think that the biggest concern from our team. Our contracting side was that, you know, they would be comfortable with the two year if there was a different term clause. Okay?
Stephanie Ryan (05:24) Yeah. I hear you on that. Totally. I don’t think I can change the term clause, but I’ll share that feedback and if we can change anything there, I’ll let you know. I don’t think it’s going to be feasible. I think we’ll probably be moving forward with that 12 month. Okay? I think you and Alex have access to the proposals that I sent through. Is there anybody else that I need to share that with? No?
Detra Moore (05:50) He’ll get that sent up the chain. Okay? It’ll get submitted, it’s called the craf process and I don’t recall what that even stands for at this point, but it’ll go through the it business office for review. They’ll have their legal team review it. And then once it gets approved, it’ll go to, I think it’s Jonathan bowers who will execute that. And then they’ll just send the signed document back to us. Okay?
Stephanie Ryan (06:20) Perfect. I do have Jonathan bowers listed as the signer on my end. Okay? So that looks good. I have the proposal expiration date today as April fifteenth because I think when I started it, I could only have it go that long. Okay? In terms of signatures, like do we think the end of April or may? Like, what are we, what do you think from an Italian perspective?
Detra Moore (06:44) Honestly, I would say end of may.
Stephanie Ryan (06:48) Okay. I’ll just adjust this. You will get a new updated proposal with that because once it expires you can’t sign it. So, I just want to make sure that we’ve got enough timing in there. And if you.
Detra Moore (07:01) Have more wiggle room. I’d put it, I would put June on there.
Stephanie Ryan (07:04) Okay. Let me see how far I can go out. Let’s see. I.
Detra Moore (07:08) Feel like that’s where we got stuck last year and then we were having to reset, you know, you were having to update it and I don’t want to do that to you.
Stephanie Ryan (07:17) Let’s just say if I can do this, let me see if I can save it for June fifteenth. Yep. Okay. I just need to submit this for approval, but I kicked it out to June fifteenth, which gives us wait. No, it’s greater than 45 days. Let me just what is 45 days from today? Give me a moment here. Sorry?
Detra Moore (07:44) That’s too much math for Thursday.
Stephanie Ryan (07:46) Seriously? It’s.
Detra Moore (07:48) too much math for any day of the week for any day? Yeah.
Stephanie Ryan (07:53) Oh, wait, hold on, I’ll figure this out later. It will be whatever the farthest I can go out, it is. And if we again need to extend that, that’s absolutely a choice like we have until the base, I think your renewal goal is up the 20 sixth of June. So we’ve got time here. So, okay, it sounds like I will double check on the terms for the two year, but assuming that we can’t make any changes there, we will move forward with the 12 month. Okay. It sounds like your team has it, it’s in process right now.
Stephanie Ryan (08:29) Feel free to send me any questions or red lines that you may have. I know within the document, there’s like an msa and we just referenced our prior msa. So, I don’t think we’re going to have any challenges from a legal perspective, but random things come up that I never know about. So you just keep.
Detra Moore (08:48) me posted. Yeah. And I think that the business office had me jump through hoops and then we had to go back and forth about the verbiage to make sure that, the names of the different products on the proposal matched up with what was on the initial, the original contract. And that was.
Stephanie Ryan (09:04) Yeah. And there was also like we have changed some of the names. So, yes.
Detra Moore (09:09) And then we had to look out like description. So.
Stephanie Ryan (09:12) If I need to do that, let me know and I can proactively do that. I can look at what we did last time. If you think that’s going to get it through a little bit.
Detra Moore (09:21) Quicker, sure. At this point, I mean, I’m hoping that it goes to the same person. So we don’t have to, we don’t have to revise based on the new person that’s looking at it. So.
Stephanie Ryan (09:31) Okay, awesome. Then I will get this new one over to you with an updated expiration date and that’s the only thing that will be changing. Okay. And then I can add in I’ll reference what was on your initial agreement. And if any names have changed, we can add in a description as well. Okay, that.
Detra Moore (09:51) Sounds okay.
Stephanie Ryan (09:53) That sounds good. Do you have any other questions for me right now?
Detra Moore (09:57) I don’t today. I do have some questions, or thoughts around how we can.
Detra Moore (10:08) improve the user experience, not from your platform. I’m hearing really great things about the platform. I’m going to give you a little bit of insight to our challenges and that is, and it’s some of it is based on what I’ve shared with you about why we can’t do the payr, credentialing, so I finally got some feedback from our credentialing privileging teams and they’re still going through an internal… org restructure, but ultimately, at some point in time, they plan to have some type of centralized verification office that’s going to be working off of some type of platform that’s going to be used for their internal work. It does not appear that platform. It’s my understanding that it’s I don’t believe it’s going to help us very much. And so, when I think about I’m, just being honest, so when I think about what your platform offers versus what we’re actually using, I can see why the experience for our operating teams and clinicians feel a little different because they’re submitting all of these documents and paperwork to the medallion platform to get the licensing process started. And then they’re also having to submit the same information to our internal teams to get the credentialing process started. Our credentialing team won’t start any process until the licenses are active. And so you think about all the pain points and like wait times between this platform. And then the handoff to the second platform. You know, I think that that’s contributing to a lot of the frustration. So, I don’t get a sense that it’s really like, I think the teams say that they’re like, you know, we don’t know if the medallion is saving us time, but I also think that it’s because they’re doing.
Stephanie Ryan (12:05) it twice, they’re.
Detra Moore (12:06) doing it twice. And when you think about all the stopping points, right? And handoff approaches, it’s duplicate of well, and.
Stephanie Ryan (12:17) I don’t know this off the top of my head but I don’t think you guys have an API set up with us and I, okay, let me, I’m going to double check on it to see if there’s an API in place. But I think that might alleviate some of the duplicative work that’s happening. This is the first time that I’m hearing this. So I’m glad that we’re having the conversation and I think anywhere where we can try to streamline the process so that you’re not having to do things twice would be helpful, right? So let me take that one back and brainstorm with the team. Do you know what program your other cred side is using?
Detra Moore (13:02) So current state, they have five that they’re using because, right? We’re not integrated yet. They’re working towards it. Second piece is that it’s not common knowledge internally. So you’re my friend. So sharing company secrets here, they’re looking at contracting with MD-Staff. Okay? Does that sound right that?
Stephanie Ryan (13:27) Does sound right? Yeah, yeah.
Detra Moore (13:29) And obviously, my team was not involved in those conversations or the RFP process. I don’t know if that was if your team was part of that at all, but ultimately, they made a decision and we’re just having to.
Stephanie Ryan (13:42) Kind of go with it. Yeah, I hear you on that. I would, do, you know, anything about like their terms? Like are they doing a multi year agreement with that?
Detra Moore (13:52) I know absolutely nothing. They barely even told me that and then told me that I couldn’t share it because they hadn’t told their teams yet. Okay… that.
Stephanie Ryan (14:01) Is I appreciate the feedback like that’s? Very helpful. I think right now we will proceed with the renewal as is. But I’d love at some point even if we can. I don’t know if it’s hard to get leaders that are making decisions in other areas together. But yeah, I think that there could be an opportunity for us to partner deeper. And I think that it could, as you guys are looking at process improvement and kind of integrating the organization as a whole and standardizing your processes? I think that it would be a very worthwhile conversation for you all to hear kind of like you’re using medallion today for licensing. How else can we leverage this to make you all working in one spot and you’re all visible to the same information? So, no.
Detra Moore (14:50) I absolutely agree. And that’s why I wanted to share that with you because I, you know, I’m all about process improvement, right? And whatever makes our systems work better for our operations teams, leaders and clinicians. And so, you know, it’s one of those things for me where I’m used to just being dealt an interesting hand, right? I’m like, all right, well, this is what we have. Let’s figure out how we can make it work. Let’s get creative. Yes, let’s get creative. So, you know, like I’m committed to making, you know, our licensing platform work for the teams. I also am committed to working with our credentialing teams to figure out how we can, you know, continue to provide some synergy given that they’ve made their own decisions.
Stephanie Ryan (15:37) But yeah, I hear you. So let’s do this. Let’s, this is really great information I would love to be about a part of conversations with you and others within the organization about like how we can try to standardize this. I know it’s going to be a work in progress. So, yes, they might be going with MD-Staff today. That doesn’t mean that it will be their forever vendor. And we’re also making a lot of investments on the payer enrollment side of the house today, there’s a lot of automation that’s being set up to really help streamline and expedite that experience. And, our cred process has, is amazing like, our customers are so happy with credentialing. So, yeah, I agree.
Detra Moore (16:20) That’s what I’ve been hearing too, right? So I’m like, well, why is our experience so different? And then I started digging into it a little bit more and I was like, okay, so we’re only using like 10 percent of what, right?
Stephanie Ryan (16:34) There’s a lot more that we can be doing. And so this is like a really great start to the conversation. We will proceed with the renewal as is. And if at any point it makes sense to add anything in that’s always an option. So, why don’t we do this? We will get through the contracting. And then I’d love if it’s possible, to spend time with you and maybe other leaders within the org to just talk like kind of like a level setting medallion one on one like what do we offer? Like how can we partner more? Like here are your pain points, right? You’ve got a really big organization. You’ve got different departments using different technology to get their licensing, credentialing and payer enrollment accomplished. And like, how do we give you one platform that can be a source of truth for everything?
Detra Moore (17:27) Right.
Stephanie Ryan (17:29) So that’s like that’s a really exciting conversation I think that we can have. Obviously, I think timing is important. And so you let me know when would be good, but I’d love to like think about late spring, early summer to have a conversation like that and we can bring in some of our leaders to kind of talk through that as well.
Stephanie Ryan (17:53) I know we had reached out to you about talking about payer enrollment with Derek just because I thought it might be good for you to hear what’s going on. I think it would be really good for others within your organization to hear that too. Yeah. Okay. That makes sense. That sounds good. And.
Detra Moore (18:10) then you were going to look into whether or not we’re using the API, right? And if not, I would love to hear more about that as well. Okay. As I’m working… through like, how can we partner and how can we make this a seamless process for all?
Stephanie Ryan (18:26) Yes, yes. Yes. I will look into the API too. Okay? I have a feeling that you’re not set up with it today and it’s something that we can either like if your resources from an it perspective are really limited. It’s something that our team can set up with like a minimal cost, okay? Or if your team’s like, yep, we do apis all the time. We’ve got the bandwidth. Let’s do it. We can, we’ll allow you to do it as well at no cost. So I will get an answer to you on if the API is set up and if not, I’d love to have a conversation with our technical solutions team about like what the API can do and how it might help with some of the challenges that you’re experiencing today.
Detra Moore (19:11) Okay. Well.
Stephanie Ryan (19:13) That sounds great. Great. Connecting with you. I will get this 12 month updated and regenerated. And then you just let me know if there’s any other hiccups that you’re running into as you’re talking through the renewal internally?
Detra Moore (19:29) Okay. That sounds great. Okay?
Stephanie Ryan (19:31) Thank you so much. Yeah, thanks so much. Talk to you soon. Bye. Nice to.
Detra Moore (19:34) Meet you bye.
